I haf a frd whom I've known for 8 yrs, n counting. He has alwys been dere wen I needed sm1, b it in d morning, noon or nite, even wee hrs in d dawn. Thru'out d darkest period of my life, he accompanied me on walks at ecp in middle of d nite, mkg sure I don get drunk wen alcohol was my way of life, driving me ard all over sg, listening to me lament abt d same tgs for so many nites in a row etc etc. Oh, n hw can I forget? He din kill mi wen I crashed his 1st car :P
I came hm last nite n mee mee passed me a small plastic bag containing a pack of strawberry pocky n a cute little card. She said it was hanging on d door wen she came back..
I noe he doesnt drive nimore so he prob took a train n brot it to my hse? Jus 2 cheer me up :) He's alwys d 1st 1 to msg me n ask if I was alrite if he sees nitg unhapi on my blog, even if it's jus a twitter msg. Dis kinda frd where to find u tell me?? Tks for everything, little ant :) I wouldn't gif up our frdship for d world :)

Little boy noes my love for asparagus, esp white asparagus. I was flipping thru d I.S. magazine last wk n exclaimed to him tt it's d white asparagus season again!! Quite a few restaurants r comin up wif white asparagus specials :) If u r interested, here's a little trivia fyi ;)
White asparagus
White asparagus has long been considered a delicacy, particularly by Europeans, and commands about double the price of green asparagus. The main reason that white asparagus is more expensive is that there is a limited supply, and the production costs are high. To produce white asparagus spears, it has to be grown in the dark. When asparagus spears are exposed to sunlight, they first turn pink and later, the familiar green colour.
Traditionally white asparagus was produced in the field by piling extra soil above the crown so that the spear could develop to a harvestable length without being exposed to sunlight. As soon as the spear emerged from the mound, specialised cutters would cut deep into the mound to harvest it. This method was not without its problems, as “blind harvesting” increased the risk of injuring the developing spears, and few specialised cutters were available to harvest the crop.
The increasing demand for new types of asparagus has led to developments in the way that white asparagus is produced. Some growers now use black “polyhouses” constructed over the crop between June and July. The black plastic ensures that the spears are not exposed to sunlight. It also solves the problem of the traditional harvesting methods as asparagus grown in the black "polyhouses" can be harvested cleanly and efficiently without damaging developing spears.
At the end of the season, the "polyhouses" are removed to allow the crop to continue its life cycle and produce the normal asparagus fern.
Reason y I like white asparagus is cos dey r much sweeter n softer dan d green 1s. N oso cos dey r onli available abt a mth or so in a yr. I like tgs tt r hard to get :P We walked for half hr ard Chinatown area frm his office cos he din noe exactly hw 2 get dere n refused to tell mi d location (he say canot spoil surprise). Soooo, we were basically roaming ard, tryin 2 work up an appetite for din -.-''' Finali reached dis nice little cosy German restaurant at Bt Parsoh called Magma.
Tink we were 2 hungry n got abit carried away ordering. I got d white asparagus set din, he got a grilled pork knuckle n we ordered an extra 1kg of deir special mussels. Wen we saw hw big d bowl of mussies was.... -___-!!!!!!! We had to pack more dan half back. Mussies were 2 dry n some had sand in them, nt v.nice. But d sauce was gd! Got white wine taste, I like :D By den, b4 I even ate nitg else, I was full alrd :O The 2 German beers we tried were not bad; his was cherry beer, mine was a wheat lager. His piggy was sweet n chewy, 1 of d best pork knuckles I've tried but d size of d serving was quite scary.
Ahhhhhh~ My beeeeautiful white asparagus!! :D 1st came d salad wif smoked ham. I din like dis v.much cos dere were 2 much celery in d salad. It'll b nice 4 ppl who likes celery. Soupie was nice wen hot, it had a reali milky taste but 2 much of it was 2 jelard. D skinfried salmon was gooood except it was a little dry. It went well wif d almond crust n super soft asparagus :) Steak...mmm, 1 of d best I've eaten! Weird tg tho, dey din ask mi hw I wan it done -.-''' but hee, it came medium rare, I likey :)
C hw almst perfect it was? :D Insides were good but d sides were a little chao tar. Herbal hash browns were an interesting substitute to d normal wedges/fries. Dessie was asparagus ice cream n asparagus creme caramel. I liked d ice cream but d pudding was too sweet n creamy for me.
We were so full we cld barely move after din. D servings of d set was more dan enuff to share but d v.smart us had to order anor giantic pork knuckle n 1kg of mussies #.- Oh well, I had my fill of white asparagus n I'm hapi :D Tks for d dinnie, my sweet sweet little button *muacks*
Time to go to beddie le :) Need to wakie early cos we r gg to grandmama hse to fetch her n grandpapa to little auntie's hse at Pasir Ris :) Wana go earlier to eat breakie wif them :) I don wana tink of nitg else, don wana tink of wat'll happen, wen it'll happen. For nw, I jus wana spend all d time I can wif d ppl I care abt..n mk sure dey noe hw much I love them :)
