Dee dee was invited to a financial talk by OCBC n he wanted to bring little boy along. Little boy was shy n arranged for mi to tag along too. I wasnt v.interested in d talk but I saw "sumptuous dinner" on d invitation card n it's at Fullerton Hotel, so I agreed to go wif them.
I was mesmerized by d beautiful chandelier once I stepped into d Straits Room. So pretty n elagant!!! I hinted to little boy tt I wan dis in our hse nxt time n both of them immediately started giving mi 1001 reasons y it's not practical to do tt -.-'''
It was a gd tg little boy fore-warned me tt Fullerton's food is not v.nice cos for a hotel wif a restuarant tt charges $38 for a tomato, d food was dreadfully disappointing..
Bread bread was alrite. I quite liked d foccacia n butter rolls. Dey had a light croissant bite n d butter wasnt overwhelming :)
I was quite amused by d butter wif a neat "f" logo on it :P Reali cute! Appetizer was tuna carpaccio with pan-fried foie gras..
Foie gras was inconsistent, some over cooked, some not cooked enuff #.- D raw tuna was so tasteless I could onli base it on d color n thot it was not fresh smoked salmon =/ Little boy said to gif them abit of credit, at least d liver was of substantial size. To me, tt's reali beside d point. If u wan to serve an expensive dish, do it right. Cream of Celerjac wif roasted scallop n apple puree nxt..
D ingredients speak for itself. Wth puts apple in a cream soup?!?!? I totali disliked it, onli ate d scallop. Main course was chickie stuffed wif mozzarella and basil wif broccoli mash..
Dear dear!!! Tt greeny crap was broccoli!!! My gdness!!!! It totali din taste like broccoli at all loh!!!! *faintz* Chickie hard n dry like stone, accompanying champagne beurre n d weird tasting green stuff din help at all. Last but not least, a chocolate cakie dessie..
Little boy said it was good but too much damage had been done. Plus, to me, sweet stuff will nv help to make tgs rite. Dey gaf a tray of mini chocs after d dessie..I din try but d presentation of it looked nice :)
Not onli was d food mediocre (disclaimer: sori, mb some ppl liked d meal but I reali didn't), service left much to be desired as well. Dee dee asked for a glass of warm water, it took 3 waiters n a half hr wait to finally get it. Dey don refill ur glasses after u r done n coffee n tea was served AFTER d talk was over n ppl were getting ready to leave -.-!!!
Worst of all?? Their house pour sucked!!!!! It was my most be hated Shiraz!!! *meow!!!* Don ask mi hw was d talk, I din understand a single tg -.-zzz Let's talk abt happier food, shall we? :)
I wanted to bring little boy to a restuarant he wanted 2 go for our 19th mth anniversary dinnie. Hwever, Mr Work-Until-Forget-Gf was more dan an hr late meeting me ytd n I was painfully starving alrd cos I din eat lunchie. We had to nihw find a pl to eat at Boat Quay instd @.- Settled dwn at Sizzling Rock, a nice quiet pl beside d river..
Garlic bread was crisp n garlicky, d way I like it. Mixed platter nice, I especially njoyed d cheese potato tgy. Their specialty is d hot stone so of cos I had to try it rite? :) I ordered d salmon n steak combo while little boy had d normal rib eye wif garlic butter. Frankly speaking, I din reali like my hot stone tgy. 1st of all, mb I dono hw to cook it properly but my steak came out v.stiff n dry =/ 2ndly, d oil kept splattering all over me! Quite painful leh -.-''' Salmon was oki tho cos I ate it b4 it was thoroughly cooked. I preferred his steak which was grilled d normal way. If I ever go back dere, I'll jus get d chef-cooked dishes :P
Alrighty, time to zzz le (: It's finali Fri!! :D Cant wait to spend d weekend wif my little boy again!! Wee!! :D
